Team Zimbabwe for Accra Africa Games named

Team Zimbabwe management has named the 83 athletes who will represent the country at the 2023 All-Africa Games in Accra, Ghana from March 8 to March 23, 2024.

The team is scheduled to leave Harare for Accra on March 5 with athletes based outside Zimbabwe set to join their team-mates in Ghana.

Minister of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Dr Kirsty Coventry, was the guest of honour at the event.

Speaking at the send-off ceremony at a Harare hotel, Sports and Recreation Commission Board chairperson, Gerald Mlotshwa, thanked the athletes for working hard to represent the country in Accra.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to the credible athletes who will carry the private hopes of our nation at the African Games. Let us work together in support of our team Zimbabwe.”

Team Zimbabwe’s 83 athletes will compete in ten sports codes.

Athletics has 12 athletes, cricket women (15), cricket men (15), cycling (3), tennis (9), triathlon (4), judo (2), rugby (15), karate (2) and chess (2).

The Lady Chevrons were presented in absentia as they are currently in India for training.
