Zanu PF has clarified its stance on the recently introduced “2030” slogan, denying any connection to a potential third term for the incumbent president. This comes amid concerns raised by analysts and opposition figures following the party’s two-thirds majority win in Parliament.

Zanu PF Director of Information and Publicity, Farai Marapira, said the slogan celebrates achievements and progress towards achieving Vision 2030, not a future presidential term. He dismissed speculations about a third term and stressed that the party communicates through designated channels, not slogans.

“Slogans are not part of our decision-making process,” Marapira said in an interview with NRtv. “The party has clear structures for communication, and the Vice President and provincial chairperson have already explained the meaning of the slogan.”

He further stated that discussions about a third term are non-existent within Zanu PF and rejected any external attempts to influence the party’s agenda.

He emphasised that communication within the party follows established channels, and discussions about leadership transitions are not currently taking place at any level.

This news comes amid ongoing political discussions in Zimbabwe following the recent parliamentary elections and speculation about the future of leadership within Zanu PF. The party’s clarification aims to address concerns and clarify its position on the 2030 slogan and potential leadership changes.
