The Rwanda-Zimbabwe business forum has opened today with over 100 Zimbabwean companies showcasing their products, a development that is set to strengthen trade relations between the two countries.
Organised by ZimTrade and the Rwanda Development Board under the theme: “Shared Prosperity”, the forum looks to leverage on the respective unique capabilities of both countries.
Speaking at the opening session of the forum, Rwandan Minister of Foreign affairs and international cooperation, Vincent Biruta said that the global business landscape is complex.
However, both Rwanda and Zimbabwe present unique capabilities and potential that need harnessing to capitalise on economic growth, adding that the two countries have had an improved and progressive trade pattern since the inaugural edition of the forum.
“As we navigate a complex global landscape, it is essential to identify and capitalise on emerging trends and market dynamics. Rwanda and Zimbabwe, with their unique strengths and capabilities, have much to offer the world. Leveraging our respective comparative advantages, we can create a cycle of growth and prosperity that benefits both nations.”
“Rwanda and Zimbabwe share a common will for inclusive growth, sustainable development, and entrepreneurship. By working together we can unlock new opportunities, accelerate investment flows, and create an environment for businesses to thrive,” Minister Biruta said.
Speaking at the forum, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheillah Chikomo said that the business forum offers an ideal platform for business to grow noting that the testimony of the forum is seen in Zimbabwe surpassing export targets.
“Zimbabwe’s ability to surpass export targets is a testimony of the importance of this Business Forum,” Minister Chikomo said.
Organisers of the Business forum, ZimTrade also noted the importance of the forum, that strengthens bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.
“The forum provides an ideal platform to boost bilateral economic relations between the two countries.
