A mission clinic and an academy school located next to each other in Epworth started their Easter holidays badly as armed robbers pounced on them on Good Friday, stealing a combined US$18 000.
Reports are that four iron bar-wielding suspects assaulted a 49-year-old security guard, Takawira Mutamburi, binding him with shoelaces before taking his mobile phone.
The robbers forcefully broke into Epworth Mission Clinic, stealing US$5 000 cash, while also proceeding to rob the nearby Methodist Academy School, where they stole US$13 000 cash, which was in a safe in the headmaster’s office.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Harare provincial spokesperson, Inspector Luckymore Chakanza confirmed the robbery incident, noting that investigations into the two related robbery cases had begun.
“Police are investigating two robbery cases at a clinic and a school in Epworth. The scene was attended and a grinding blade was recovered and the total value stolen is US$18 000,” Inspector Chakanza said.
