… current DG Chingosho to retire in November

The recruitment process for a new Director-General for the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe has commenced.
This follows incumbent DG, Dr Eng Elijah Chingosho’s submission of his Notice of Retirement with effect from November 5, 2024.
In a statement, CAAZ Board chairman, Captain Alois G Nyandoro said: “The recruitment process has commenced in earnest and stakeholders will be advised of the outcome in due course.
“The board reiterates that normal operations will continue uninterrupted in line with all stipulations of the international Civil Aviation Organisation,” reads the statement.
CAAZ added that the notice period will allow a scam-less, smooth succession and hand over to a new incumbent and to ensure minimum or no interruption to normal operations.
Dr Chingosho achieved key milestones on air navigation systems and infrastructure improvements, further implementation of the Single African Airlines being granted Foreign Operator Permits, and an Effective implementation score of 69.09% in the ICAO coordinated Violation Mission Audit in 2023 up from 53.14% attained in the 2019 full scope audit, and above the global average EI of 67%, as well as the official launch of the Aviation Training Academy of Zimbabwe as a fully accredited Approved Training Organisation among other success hence the board appreciates his hard work and dedication.
He also wrote four books, among them: Elementary Aircraft Propulsion (1989), African Airlines in the Era of Liberation (2005), Strategic Management (2007) for the Charted Corporate Government Institute, Zimbabwe.
