Dynamos emerged victorious in the 2024 Independence Cup, defeating their arch-rivals Highlanders in a match that kicked off the 44th Independence celebrations. The encounter, held at Murambinda A High School, saw Dynamos capitalise on an early goal to secure the trophy.
Dynamos, fielding a strong starting line-up compared to Highlanders’ inclusion of fringe players, wasted no time asserting dominance. The aptly nicknamed “Glamour Boys”, took the lead in a mere two minutes thanks to a well-executed volley by Donald Mudadi.
Despite conceding an early goal, Highlanders launched attacks in an attempt to equalise. However, their efforts were thwarted by a determined Dynamos defence. The Bulawayo giants’ closest call came in the second half when Brian Ndlovu’s shot rattled the crossbar in the 47th minute.
Both teams battled for an additional goal throughout the match, but neither side managed to find the back of the net. The final whistle blew, sealing a victory for Dynamos and securing their claim on the 2024 Independence Cup trophy.
