Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on the occasion of Zimbabwe's 44th Independence Day created a special video chronicling the growing relationship between the two countries.

Dr S Jaishankar said, "Will continue working to advance our long-standing partnership."

Bilateral relations between the two nations have been steadily growing.

India has contributed in many projects in the country which include the upgrading of Bulawayo thermal power station, upgrading of Deka pumping station and repowering of Hwange Thermal Power Station.

While trade between the two countries is not very high, Indian investment in Zimbabwe has played a large part in the rebuilding of industry with companies like Varun Beverages.

In recent years, Zimbabwe and India have signed several Memoranda of Understanding in various fields, including education, health, and culture.

In 2021, India donated 75,000 doses of COVAXIN vaccine and ten ambulances to Zimbabwe.

The message from Dr. Jaishankar comes as a timely reminder of the deep friendship between Zimbabwe and India, a relationship that is built on a shared commitment to mutual respect and cooperation.

Zimbabweans of Indian ethnicity number around 10,000.
