A security guard, who allegedly stole groceries from OK Zimbabwe Fife Avenue branch, has been taken to court.

Safarawu Nyandoro, of Epworth, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with theft.

He was ordered to deposit US$50 as bail.

The complainant in this matter is OK Zimbabwe Limited, Fife Avenue branch.

The State alleges that sometime in 2021, Nyandoro was employed by Securico, a Zimbabwean security company.

He was deployed at OK Zimbabwe, Fife Avenue branch responsible for the upstairs car park, which is where the OK warehouse is located and also once deployed to man complainant’s CCTV.

It is alleged that from December 9, 2021, to January 12, 2022, Nyandoro stole various groceries worth ZW$2 527 045 from the warehouse he was deployed to man.

The court heard that Nyandoro would cover the CCTV cameras with pieces of cloth so that it could not record anything.

After stealing, Nyandoro would uncover the cameras.

The offence was discovered when the CCTV cameras were played back and that is when it was unearthed.

It is alleged that Nyandoro was supposed to report for work by 0600 hours but would report an hour earlier to enable him to commit the offence.

As a result, OK Zimbabwe lost ZW$2 527 045.
