Bafana Bafana Secure 2026 FIFA World Cup Spot with Convincing 3-0 Win Over Rwanda

Bafana Bafana has booked their ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, cruising to a 3-0 victory over Rwanda in their final Group C qualifier at Mbombela Stadium. The win marks a significant milestone for the South African national team, solidifying their commitment to the beautiful game.

Coach Hugo Broos made four changes to the starting lineup that faced Zimbabwe, and the new faces made an immediate impact. Thalente Mbatha opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a powerful shot that beat the Rwandan goalkeeper. Oswin Appollis doubled the lead midway through the half, firing into the top corner after collecting a pass from Evidence Makgopa.

The South Africans continued to dominate possession and created scoring opportunities, with Sipho Mbule, Appollis, Mohau Nkota, and Mbatha all involved in the attack. Despite a brief scare when Teboho Mokoena's free-kick sailed over the bar, Bafana Bafana remained in control.

In the final ten minutes, Makgopa sealed the win with a clinical header from Appollis' pinpoint corner, nodding the ball past the Rwandan goalkeeper.
