A man from Mufukwa Village in Zamuchaya area in Chipinge is celebrating after the reversal of a heavy loss as his 32 cattle have been recovered from Mozambique.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the cattle were recovered from Mamutse area during a joint operation with Mozambican authorities last week.

The cattle owner positively identified the beasts, said Com Nyathi.

There is a long history of cross border cattle rustling between the two countries. in 2016 there was a report of 15 Mozambican bandits  armed with rifles, machetes and knobkerries kidnapping and killing a fellow Mozambican national before making off with 49 cattle from the Zamuchaya area.
