Vice President and Health Minister Constantino Chiwenga is in the Iranian capital Tehran for bilateral engagements, as Zimbabwe seeks to strengthen its pharmaceutical industry in order to revive the national health sector.

Invited by the Iranian government, the VP is scheduled to meet the country’s Vice President Mohammad Mokhber and Health Minister Bahram Eynollahi,.

The two nations are exploring areas of further cooperation.

Early this year, Iran sent a team of 12 medical specialists from various disciplines to Zimbabwe for two weeks to conduct surgeries at the United Bulawayo Hospitals and Mpilo Central Hospital.

The Iranians also shared new techniques and technologies with their Zimbabwean counterparts.
