Elected Citizens Coalition for Change officials who quit the party will still be eligible to contest for office again in vacancies created by their defection, according to a legal expert.

β€œAt law, there is no bar for a person to contest again, either on the same ticket from the resignation or to then join another party and come back to contest,”  said legal practitioner Moffat Makuvatsine sSpeaking to Zim Now

This comes as a number of officials and representatives in the opposition outfit have pledged their allegiance to former party leader, Nelson Chamisa, who dumped the opposition outfit on Thursday.

Observers were questioning their eligibility to run for office again on the pretext that they resigned as sitting Members of Parliament or local authority councillors under the CCC party.

Officials who have pledged allegiance to Nelson Chamisa include Fadzai Mahere, Oliver Mutasa, Gladys Hlatshwayo and Shine Gwangwaba.

The majority of elected CCC reps  have not yet indicated which direction they are taking.
