A 51-year-old man, Loverage Munemo, appeared in Harare Magistrates' Court facing allegations of stealing US$5,400 after allegedly selling a residential stand and failing to remit the proceeds to the owner.

The complainant, Fungai Mwandai, reportedly hired Munemo in May 2023 as an agent to sell his residential property, located at stand number 555/5 in Glaudina, Harare.

According to the State, Munemo successfully sold the stand for US$5,400 in July 2023 but did not hand over the money. Instead, he allegedly used the funds for personal purposes.

Mwandai reportedly made numerous attempts to recover the money, but Munemo offered excuses and failed to deliver. Frustrated, Mwandai filed a police report, leading to Munemo's arrest.

Munemo is scheduled to return to court on December 9, 2024, to face charges of theft of trust property.
