A 27-year-old man from Mabvuku has been sentenced to prison after attempting to murder his ex-girlfriend and her new partner in a shocking incident that left the victim hospitalised.

Mike Sanga, 27, was convicted of attempted murder by the Harare Magistrates' Court.

The court heard that on January 29, 2026, Sanga deliberately drove his vehicle towards his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend, who were standing outside her home along Manresa Way in New Mabvuku, striking the man and causing serious injuries.

According to court proceedings, Sanga’s actions were driven by jealousy after he saw his former partner with another man.

The injured victim was rushed to hospital for treatment, while Sanga was arrested and later convicted.

Sanga was sentenced to six years in prison, with two years suspended, leaving him to serve an effective four-year jail term.
