Man jailed for child kidnapping attempt

A 23-year-old man, Tawanda Maronze, has been arrested and sentenced to four years in prison for the kidnapping of a 3-year-old girl.

 The incident occurred on October 26th when Maronze abducted the child from her home and took her to a secluded area approximately 5 kilometers away. The girl's aunt, who was driving along Solusi Road with friends, spotted Maronze carrying the child and intervened.

 During the court hearing, Maronze confessed to the crime, stating that he had intended to rape the child as part of a money ritual, following instructions from a traditional healer.

 The court, considering the severity of the crime and the potential harm inflicted on the young victim, imposed a four-year prison sentence on Maronze.
