A man, who allegedly stole a satchel which had a pistol with one round of ammunition, has been taken to court.

Emmanuel Madzimure, 24, Waterfalls, appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi, at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with theft.

He will appear in court tomorrow for bail application.

The State, through prosecutor Rufaro Chonzi, alleges that on February 13, at around 0210 hours, Madzimure went to Tolsen Hardware located at corner Mbuya Nehanda and Robert Mugabe, Harare.

He allegedly stole a satchel, which had been left under a chair with a 9mm Lorcin pistol charged with a magazine with one round of ammunition, raincoat light green in colour, one loaf of bread and 10 packets of cigarettes.

Madzimure then left the scene unnoticed.

On the same date, at around 0700 hours and at corner Mbuya Nehanda and Charter Street, Madzimure was arrested with the stolen pistol.

As a result US$470 worth was stolen.
