The Metrological Services Department has said all provinces, except for Matabeleland North, should have scattered thunderstorms in cloudy conditions which may be heavy in some areas as of February 21, 2023.

In a statement, MSD said Matebeleland North Province is expected to be partly cloudy with slight chances of afternoon thundershowers.

“As of Wednesday, February 22, 2023, partly cloudy and warm conditions with isolated thunderstorms are expected over all Mashonaland provinces, Matabeleland North, northern parts of Manicaland and northern parts of Midlands and Harare Metropolitan provinces,” the warning said.

MSD also said on the same day, cloudy, windy and patchy drizzle will be expected in Bulawayo Metropolitan, southern parts of Midlands, Masvingo, Matabeleland South and Southern areas of Manicaland provinces.

On Sunday, February 19, widespread thunderstorms were recorded and heavy falls in excess of 70mm were measured at Gokwe (73mm).

Other significances were recorded at Hwange, Lupane, Mhondoro and Beitbridge.

Meanwhile, the low pressure system that was responsible for the current wet spell has significantly weakened.
