A suspected drug dealer linked to a haul of dagga, codeine-based medicines and explosives worth nearly US$13,000 has been granted US$600 bail by a Harare court.

Nomore Chabata is facing charges of dealing in dangerous drugs, selling unregistered specified medicines and possessing explosives without a permit.

According to the State, police recovered 34.140 kilogrammes of loose dagga and 26.243 kilogrammes of dagga seeds mixed with plant material from Chabata's possession.

Investigators also allegedly seized 294 bottles of 100ml Benylin with codeine, 50 bottles of 100ml Broncleer with codeine and 323 bottles of 100ml Astra Pain syrup containing 12.5 percent alcohol.

Police further recovered 1,300 packaging plastics, an electric sealer, a digital scale and a 96-page counter book allegedly used to record transactions related to the sale of dangerous drugs.

The State alleges that officers also found 91 Emex 70 emulsion explosives and 58 one-metre capped fuse detonators, which Chabata allegedly possessed without the required permit.

The recovered property is valued at US$12,875.90.

Chabata was granted US$600 bail and is expected back in court on July 7, 2026.
