Raila Odinga Dies in India

Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga has died in India after suffering a cardiac arrest on Wednesday morning, October 15, 2025.

Odinga, 80, reportedly collapsed during a morning walk in Kerala’s Ernakulam district, where he had been receiving Ayurvedic treatment. 

He was rushed to hospital and pronounced dead at around 9:52 a.m. Indian time.

According to hospital sources, his daughter and other relatives were with him at the time.

Odinga had travelled to India six days ago for treatment following reports of illness. 

His brother, Oburu Odinga, had recently assured supporters that Raila was recovering and “not in a serious condition.”
