A Ruwa man who ran over a pedestrian along Mutare Road near Mabvuku turn-off has appeared in court for failing to report to Mabvuku Traffic for evaluation procedures.

Adojia Gunyere, 24, of Ruwa appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi at the Harare Magistrates’ Court charged with culpable homicide, violating Section 49 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, Chapter 9.07.

The State, through Zebediah Bofu, alleges that on July 23, 2022, around 1600 hours, Gunyere negligently drove a VW Polo, in the process hitting a pedestrian, Last Nyakachiranje causing injuries that led to his death.

Gunyere was called on September 23, 2022, on his phone to report to Mabvuku Traffic for evaluation procedures but was evasive.

Investigations were done, leading to his arrest.

Mangosi ordered Gunyere to pay ZWL$50 000 bail and instructed him to report once a fortnight to the nearest police station before coming back to court on May 16, 2023.
