Panashe Mutambara was convicted of unlawful entry and theft by the Karoi Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that on September 28, 2026, at around 0800 hours, Mutambara used an iron bar to break through a wall of the complainant’s house in Village 2, Nyarenda, before gaining entry.
He stole US$35 in cash, a 5-kilogramme gas tank, a white T-shirt, a small radio, 20 kilogrammes of maize seed, 18 metres of cloth and one litre of glyphosate herbicide. The stolen property had a combined value of US$244.
On September 30, the complainant heard that Mutambara was selling clothes and reported the matter to ZRP Kasimure.
Police investigations led to Mutambara’s arrest and the recovery of the gas tank, white T-shirt, radio and 13.5 metres of cloth.
The complainant positively identified the recovered property, which was valued at US$95.
Mutambara was sentenced to an effective 12 months’ imprisonment.
