US$25m Claimant Sonja Madzikanda Takes Charge of Chivayo Estate
The administration of late businessman Wicknell Chivayo’s estate has taken a new turn, with his ex- wife, Sonja Madzikanda, being named among those entrusted with overseeing his multimillion-dollar inheritance. She will serve alongside Chivayo’s sister, Esther Chivayo, as they take charge of managing the deceased businessman’s affairs.
Madzikanda will oversee the estate jointly with Chivayo’s sister, Esther Chivayo, following the businessman’s death in a helicopter crash in Marondera on September 30, 2026. His wife, Lucy Muteke, and three other people also lost their lives in the accident.
The appointment comes at a time when Madzikanda had a US$25 million matrimonial claim against Chivayo pending before the Supreme Court. Her new role places her among those entrusted with managing an estate believed to be worth millions of dollars.
As co-executrices, Madzikanda and Esther Chivayo are expected to take responsibility for identifying and documenting the deceased’s assets, settling outstanding liabilities and overseeing the eventual distribution of the estate in accordance with the law.
