A 27-year-old man from Eastlea in Zvishavane died on Friday after his vehicle plunged into Ngezi River along the Masvingo-Mbalabala highway.

The incident happened around 7.30pm at the 117km when Albert Tafa lost control of his Toyota Corolla vehicle and it veered off the road to the right, hitting a pedestrian, Blessing Mano of Bakazi Mine Compound and the vehicle fell into Ngezi River.

Zvishavane Traffic Police attended the scene and summoned the sub-aqua unit, who retrieved the vehicle following day and Tafa’s body was trapped inside the car.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident, adding that Mano is admitted at Zvishavane District Hospital, where his condition is critical.
