Warriors Face Qatar in Pre-AFCON Friendly

The Zimbabwe national football team will continue their build-up to next month’s Africa Cup of Nations with a high-profile friendly against Qatar today.

The match is set for 6:30 PM CAT at the Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium in Doha.

The encounter marks head coach Marian Marinica’s second outing since taking charge of the Warriors. His debut came last Thursday in Jeddah, where Zimbabwe fell 3-1 to Algeria in a match that exposed areas still needing fine-tuning ahead of the continental tournament.

Qatar, ranked 52nd globally and more than 100 places above Zimbabwe, present a formidable test for Marinica’s squad.

The fixture is expected to provide valuable competitive minutes and a clearer picture of the team’s readiness for Morocco.

Speculation of unrest within the camp circulated after the Algeria defeat, but the Zimbabwe Football Association has moved to dispel the rumours, assuring supporters that preparations remain on track.
