A Beitbridge money transfer entrepreneur gave up R40 000 and US$2 000 to robbers who threatened her with a toy gun this past Monday.

The woman surrendered her cash after the two robbers brandished a black toy gun. They were also armed with flick knife

The toy gun, knife and a black satchel were recovered at the scene and investigations are underway.

On the same day a Plumtree couple operating an unregistered money transfer company that receives and sends money between Zimbabwe and South Africa lost R20 000 to two robbers who were armed with a pistol.

The robbers approached the couple at MW5 Madubes where they stole three mobile phones then forced the wife to drive to Medium Density.

There they stole R20 000 cash and a mobile phone from a 19-year-old woman who had custody of the couple’s money.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the two incidents.

No arrests have been made in both cases.
