Zimbabwe Republic Police detectives have arrested a foreign national at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport who had been on the run for years under an INTERPOL Red Notice linked to overseas fraud.

The suspect, Xu Liyin, a Chinese national, was taken into custody in Harare on 12 February 2026, ending a multi-year international search for alleged fraud offences committed in China in 2023.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect’s name appeared on the INTERPOL watchlist, which triggers global law enforcement cooperation on serious crimes.

Police said the arrest was the result of close cooperation between Zimbabwean authorities, international policing organisations, and counterparts abroad.

The suspect is expected to soon be processed for extradition.
