The owner of Missie Christian College has been arraigned before the courts facing attempted murder charges and contravening the Firearms Act.

Misiyasi Rwodzi, 30, of Aspindale Park, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts accused of attempted murder and contravening the Firearms Act.

He will appear in court on July 10.

The State alleges that on June 4, at around 2100 hours, Rwodzi who was driving a charcoal grey Mazda CX5 along Jabavu Drive, New Canaan, Highfield, a road which passes through his college, Missie Christian College, saw the complainant who was together with his friend near a dump site near his college premises.

The court heard that Rwodzi asked what the two were doing and the complainant and his friend started running away.

It is alleged that Rwodzi drew his firearm, a Stoeger pistol and fired two shots towards the direction of the complainant and hit him on his left arm.

He sustained a gunshot wound.

It was established that the firearm was registered in Rwodzi’s names for the purposes of Gun Club Sport.

The State alleges that he acted contrary to the purpose he was given the firearm for.
