The excitement is building for the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance National Championships, with at least five groups already locking in their spots for the grand finale on July 27th. Bindura's Dzimbahwe Nengoma and Masvingo's Gango are the latest additions, emerging victorious at their respective provincial finals held this past Saturday.
Dzimbahwe Nengoma impressed the judges with their captivating Chinyambera dance, while Gango brought the energy with their powerful mhande, a traditional rain-making dance. These two groups join Nyaungwe Dance Group (Mashonaland East), Bolamba (Matabeleland South), and Pezhuba Pachena (Matabeleland North) who secured their places earlier.
Organizers of the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival are thrilled with the caliber of competition displayed at the provincial finals. With ten coveted spots available at the national finals, the remaining provinces are gearing up to showcase their best traditional dance groups.
Harare residents can mark their calendars for June 22nd, as the city's preliminary round will be held at the PaDziva Camp and Caravan Park. This is your chance to witness the vibrant energy and cultural richness of Zimbabwean traditional dance firsthand.
The stakes are high at the national finals on July 27th. The winning group will walk away with a life-changing grand prize of US$15,000, along with the prestigious title of Chibuku Neshamwari National Champions.
