A man who allegedly raped his girlfriend has appeared in court.
Innocent Nyamutswa, 20, of Western Triangle, Highfield, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with rape.
He was remanded in custody.
The complainant in this matter is an 18-year-old woman.
The State alleges that on May 21, at around 1800 hours, the complainant was sent to Budiriro 4 shops when she met Nyamutswa, who then asked her to accompany him to his uncle’s residence.
At around 1900 hours, the two arrived at Nyamutswa uncle’s residence, and the complainant told him that she was supposed to go back home as it was too late.
It is alleged that Nyamutswa dragged her into the room. She tried to stop him but was overpowered.
He pushed her on the bed and allegedly raped her.
It is alleged that Nyamutswa ordered the complainant to go back home but she refused and followed Nyamutswa.
The matter came to light after she returned home the following day and was asked where she was and revealed the matter to her aunt.
