ZAFTAs opens call for entries

The Zimbabwe Annual Film and Television Awards is now accepting submissions for its second edition, scheduled for November 30, 2024 in Harare.

ZAFTAs Public Relations Manager Richard Tentone said winning a ZAFTA award is validation of the hard work that men and women put into creating content that inspires, educates, and entertains Zimbabwe and the world.

"I am thrilled to announce the Call for Submissions for the ZAFTAs 2024 Edition.

"This edition is building upon the highly anticipated inaugural awards, which were well- received by the industry and audiences. We have streamlined our categories and included the Outstanding International Feature Film award for international participation in the ZAFTAs.

“We also have the Student Film category is reserved for students from any training institution. The inaugural edition of the ZAFTAs taught us many lessons, and we are keen to build on that," he said.

Content creators can start submitting their content today and be part of the ZAFTAs experience.

The deadline for submissions is September 10, 2024.

The awards categories for TV include Outstanding Television Series Award, outstanding Cinematography for a Television Series, outstanding Directing for a Television Series, outstanding TV Actress, outstanding TV Actor, outstanding TV Presenter, outstanding Lifestyle Programme Award, outstanding Current Affairs Programme Award and outstanding Television Documentary Series.

Some of the categories for film are Outstanding Actor in a Feature Film Award, outstanding Feature Film Award, outstanding Actress in a Feature Film Award, outstanding Performance in the Diaspora Award, outstanding Performance in the Diaspora Award (Global), outstanding Writing for a Feature Film Award, outstanding Achievement in Directing Award, outstanding Achievement in Cinematography Award and outstanding Achievement in Production Design Award.

The ZAFTAs is the first-ever independent film and television awards ceremony in Zimbabwe, organized by the Cinema Society of Zimbabwe and partners to celebrate exceptional creative excellence.

The awards ceremony will be a black-tie event with a red carpet and an exclusive after-party for VIP guests who will include industry professionals, corporate heads, filmmakers, and content creators.
