"5 bottles of Bronco are for my asthma"

A man arrested with illegal cough mixture bottles told the police that the medicine is to manage his respiratory challenges.

Gerrald Zinyemba, 28, of Mbare National appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Courts charged with unlawful possession of dangerous drugs and possession of unspecified medicines.

The State alleges that on June 21, at around 1400 hours, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics Harare received a tip off that Zinyemba had some drugs at number 5 Kopje Mall, Harare.

After some surveillance, the cops approached Zinyemba, introduced themselves and a requested to conduct a body search.

Zinyemba and he consented. 5 x 100mls of Broncleer Cough Syrup with a street value of ZiG 325 were recovered from a small card board box he was holding.

Broncleer is not authorised for use in Zimbabwe.

Zinyemba was subsequently arrested and escorted to CID Drugs and Narcotics Harare for further management.

Zinyemba was remanded on US$50 bail.
