Harare giants Dynamos FC are facing a major crisis as several players have revealed their frustrations over unpaid bonuses and a lack of motivation within the squad.
This news comes as a huge blow to the club's ambitions of clinching the elusive league title, a trophy that has evaded them for almost a decade.
With a fanbase touted to be around 7 million strong, the pressure to perform is immense, but the current situation paints a bleak picture for Dembare's future.
According to players who spoke to Zim Now Sports, the core issue lies in the club's failure to meet their contractual obligations.
The team reportedly receives $100 for a win and $50 for a draw as bonuses, but these payments haven't been forthcoming, leaving the players demotivated and questioning the club's commitment to their success.
"Financially things are not well, we are not motivated at all," one player lamented. "The club owes us a lot of money... I do not know how they want us to deliver while they do not want to meet their obligations."
The situation is further complicated by a reported disconnect between the players and the club's executive. Players allege that the executive avoids them after home matches, leaving them to rely on handouts from fans to get home - a humiliating situation for a team of Dynamos' stature.
"It is disheartening that the executive guys... sometimes dodge us to give us transport money after home matches," another player revealed. "We end up takuporora kuma fans (Begging from the fans) which is embarrassing."
With the league title seemingly within reach, the lack of motivation and financial woes threaten to derail Dembare's championship dreams.
The players themselves acknowledge the fans' desire for glory, but their current state makes it difficult to go the extra mile.
"We do understand what our fans want but it is difficult for us to go for an extra mile to deliver what they want," a player admitted. "It's unfortunate that the executive is failing to play their part for us to achieve our goals as a club."
The situation has become so dire that a senior player has hinted at a potential strike if the issue of unpaid bonuses is not addressed.
"I think it is our right that the executive meets their obligation," he asserted. "But if they continue to be arrogant then we are left with no option but to call for job action."
With the clock ticking, Dynamos needs to find a way to address these pressing issues if they are to revive their championship dreams and avoid further unrest within the squad.
