A 20-year-old man has appeared in court facing robbery charges after allegedly breaking into homes, tying up residents, and stealing valuables including phones, laptops, and cash.
Panganayi Courage Alfonso Nyausope appeared before magistrate Donald Ndirowei at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts, charged with robbery.
He is expected to return to court tomorrow for bail application.
Prosecutor Rufaro Chonzi told the court that on June 16, Nyausope, in the company of two accomplices identified only as Gache and Blessed, who are still at large, forced open a locked main door to the complainant’s house and gained entry.
Once inside, they allegedly woke the complainant’s daughter, tied her hands and legs, and threatened to kill her.
They then made off with an iPhone 14 Pro Max, an iPad (Ains), an HP ProBook laptop, clothes, a wallet, US$400, an HP 250 laptop, an Apple Watch, two iPhone 15 Pro Max devices, a Xiaomi phone, and another iPad.
On July 13, the trio reportedly returned to the same house, broke in again, tied up the complainant, and stole four HP laptops, an Acer laptop, two Samsung phones, and three Tecno phones before fleeing the scene.
