A Zimbabwe Council of Copyrights employee has been accused of stealing a POSB POS machine.

Elphas Moyo, 27, of Gweru, appeared before magistrate Apollonia Marutya at the Harare Magistrates' Courts charged with theft.

The complainant is Zimbabwe Council of Copyrights being represented by Witness Kadzenga, 52.

It is alleged that on July 2, 2024, at ZICCO offices located at corner 1st Street and Jason Moyo,  Moyo and Cleopatra Tembedza were given a POSB POS machine to use in Marondera

After tour of duty, Tembedza assigned Moyo to go and surrender the machine at their offices.

The court heard that Moyo was supposed to bring back the machine to the offices but failed to do so, instead, he kept the machine for his own use.

The matter came to light on July 5, 2024, when the admin personal discovered that the machine was missing and Moyo had never reported the issue to his superiors.

As a result the total value which was stolen was US$500, and nothing was recovered.

Moyo told the court that he did not steal the machine.

“I admit l lost the machine. I deny that l stole it."

He was released on free bail and will appear in court on August 7, 2024.
