Moses Mpofu and Mike Chimombe, facing fraud accusations in Zimbabwe's Presidential Goat Scheme, were denied bail by Magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa. The magistrate expressed concern that releasing the pair could lead to them either committing further crimes or fleeing the country. Public unrest was also cited as a potential consequence of their release.
"The court finds no bail conditions that address these worries," stated Gofa. "Therefore, bail is denied.Mpofu and Chimombe are accused of forging documents to secure a contract to supply goats under the government initiative.
