Riding high on their recent victory over Dynamos, Highlanders turn their attention to their upcoming Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash against city rivals Bulawayo Chiefs at Barbourfields Stadium this Sunday.

The win against Dynamos has propelled Highlanders to fifth place on the log table, although they still face a significant nine-point deficit to league leaders FC Platinum. The race for the championship title is heating up, with Ngezi Platinum Stars, Simba Bhora, and Manica Diamonds all vying for top honors.

Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu is eager to maintain the momentum gained from the Dynamos win. However, he acknowledges the importance of staying focused on the upcoming match.

"The Dynamos fixture was crucial, especially for our fans," Kaindu said. "But football moves on. We're now fully concentrated on the Bulawayo Chiefs game."

Kaindu is aware of the challenges posed by local derbies, particularly after Highlanders' earlier 1-1 draw against Chiefs. He emphasizes the importance of securing a positive result against their familiar foes.

"We haven't performed well in the first half against local Bulawayo teams," Kaindu admitted. "These games are high-stakes because we know the Chiefs players very well. We socialize with them. What matters most is getting a win."

The 1-1 draw against Chiefs is a source of frustration for Highlanders. Kaindu acknowledges the exceptional performance of Chiefs' goalkeeper Prosper Matutu, who was instrumental in denying Bosso a more significant victory.

Kaindu remains cautious of Chiefs' tactical approach under coach Thulani Sibanda. He acknowledges the threat posed by Chiefs' young squad and anticipates a tactical battle on Sunday.

Chiefs will be without striker Never Rauzhi, who joined Highlanders in the mid-season transfer window. The loan agreement prevents him from featuring against his former club.
