Teeing Off for Tomorrow

DRAVENTAL Car Hire & Tours is turning a routine day on the greens into a mission to transform lives. The company has announced its inaugural corporate golf tournament, designed to bring business leaders together while raising funds for disadvantaged young people.

The Dravental Golf Day takes place on September 3 at Wingate Golf Club under the theme "Powering the Future, Driving Impact." The event will connect executives, entrepreneurs, and sports enthusiasts to support community initiatives run by Momentous Academy.

Dravental Chief Executive Officer Dr. Maureen Mbondiah explained that the event is designed to become an annual tradition that goes far beyond traditional corporate networking. "Today is more than a press conference. It is the beginning of the final countdown to a day that we believe will bring together business, golf, networking, partnerships, and social impact in a meaningful way," Mbondiah said.

She added that the primary focus remains on creating tangible community outcomes. "It will not be simply about who wins on the course. It will be about what we can achieve off the course. How can our businesses, our networks, and our resources create opportunities for others? That is the impact that we intend to drive," Mbondiah noted.

All proceeds from the tournament will benefit Momentous Academy, which has already empowered more than 200 young women through vocational skills training and entrepreneurship programs. Funds raised will help the organization expand its reach, particularly by opening up technology access for young girls. "We want to create an environment where a young girl who may not have access to a computer today can have the opportunity to learn, to develop digital skills, and dream bigger for tomorrow," Mbondiah said.

Momentous Academy Chief Executive Officer Albert Masaka emphasized that the initiative addresses a growing gap in access. "I want to start with a truth we live with every day at Momentous Academy: Talent is everywhere. Opportunity is not," Masaka said. He noted that modern job applications, business marketing, and learning all take place online. "Without access, talent remains invisible to the future," he added.

To help close this divide, the academy is working to establish the Momentous Academy ICT Hub for Tourism. Masaka described the project as "a bridge from potential to possibility, from talent to impact," explaining that it will offer computer access, digital literacy training, online marketing lessons, and job-application support. He urged partners to step forward and "ensure our girls and women know that tech is not someone else’s domain. It is theirs."

Organizers are urging players and corporate sponsors to register before the August 31 payment deadline. Individual entry costs $50, while a four-ball team registration is $200. Additional sponsorship options range up to a $1,000 gin tent package, allowing local enterprises of all sizes to participate. As Mbondiah highlighted in her closing call to action, "When we come together, our collective impact is greater than what any one organisation can achieve alone."
