President Emmerson Mnangagwa has sworn in Senator Kudakwashe Tagwirei as Minister of Economic Development and Investment Promotion, with the new minister identifying capital mobilisation and the funding of Government projects as priorities for his portfolio.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at State House on Monday, October 12, following the separation of the former Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion into two distinct ministries.

“My role is to bring capital into Zimbabwe,” Tagwirei said, according to the Ministry of Information, while indicating that he would await the President’s direction on his mandate.
The ministry said Tagwirei’s responsibilities would include “aligning the economic objectives of the ten pillars of the National Development Strategy 2 and mobilising both foreign and local capital to ensure Government projects are funded.”
The restructuring also sees Mthuli Ncube reassigned as Minister of Finance, separating Treasury’s macroeconomic management responsibilities from investment promotion and economic development.
