Residents furious over Giant Petroleum's broken promise

Residents of St Mary’s and Manyame Park Phase 4 are up in arms over Giant Petroleum’s failure to fulfill a promise to reinstate a tower light removed during the construction of the fuel station.

The service station, located at the Zengeza turn-off, is a stone’s throw from residential homes, a situation that has long been a source of contention for residents.

“This fuel station should never have been built here. It’s a safety hazard,” said an anonymous resident. “We don’t understand why a fuel station was allowed so close to our homes.”

Adding to the residents’ woes is the absence of a functional tower light. Before the construction of Giant Petroleum, a tower light illuminated the area, providing security to residents. However, when the fuel station was built, the light was removed with the promise of relocation to Manyame Complex.

“The tower light was relocated, but it’s not working. We are now sitting ducks for criminals,” complained another resident. “We are living in fear.”

The community is calling on the relevant authorities to intervene and compel Giant Petroleum to honor its commitment to the community.
