Teenage Boy In Court For Robbery

A teenage boy has been charged with robbery after attacking a woman and robbing her of property worth US$13 000.

Leon Makwira of allegedly went to the complainant's house, switched off the lights and covered the complainant with a blanket and stole her property.

He will appear in court on August 2, 2024.

The State alleges that on July 11, 2024, the complainant closed all windows, locked the main door and went to bed. 

At around 0030 hours, the accused person together with his accomplice who is still at large, jumped over the precast wall, broke the kitchen window and entered into the house armed with iron bars.

Whilst inside the house, they allegedly unlocked a bedroom door, switched off the bedroom light and covered the complainant with a blanket. 

They ordered the complainant to remain silent, demanded for money, valuables. The complainant told them that the only money she had was in her hand bag which was in the sitting room.

They stole complaint's iPhone 11 which was on charger in the bedroom.

They searched the wardrobe and stole black Acer Core i5 seventh generation laptop, its charger and laptop bag. 

They then ransacked the house and stole a black bed cover and a grey electric blanket from the storeroom. 

The court was informed that they also searched the complainant's hand bag which was on the table in the sitting room and stole US$35. 

They stole a black PLC sound bar speaker which was in the sitting room, went to the kitchen, stole various groceries and went away.

On July 18, 2024, detectives from CID Homicide Harare received a tip-off which led to the recovery of the stolen phone from one Wilfred Makiwa who had bought it from Makwira.

As a result, the value of property which was stolen was US$13 000 and recovered was US$300.
