A 51-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly indecently assaulting a 17-year-old girl he was tasked with dropping off at school. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Beitbridge.
The accused, who is a neighbor to the victim, had established himself as a community helper, offering to transport children to school daily. However, his actions took a sinister turn when he allegedly diverted from the school route and sexually assaulted the girl.
According to police reports, the man took advantage of being alone with the girl after dropping off younger children. He allegedly drove to an isolated location where he proceeded to assault the victim. The girl managed to fight off her attacker and subsequently reported the incident to her mother.
The brave actions of the victim, who confided in her schoolmates and documented the ordeal, were instrumental in bringing the accused to justice.
