A 23-year-old man, Jairos Marwa was sentenced to six months imprisonment for illegally hunting an impala.
Marwa appeared before the Masvingo Magistrates Court facing charges of contravening the Parks and Wildlife.
On August 4, 2024, Game Rangers at Save Valley Conservancy were informed that Jairos hunted an impala in the conservancy.
His wife was caught cooking impala head and heels.
Jairos failed to produce a licence permitting him to hunt leading to his arrest and the recovery of the carcass.
He was sentenced to six months imprisonment of which two months were suspended for 5 years.
The remainder was suspended on condition that he completes 410 hours of community service and ordered to pay restitution of US$1 000.
The impala was valued at US$1 000.
