National Aids Council has commended positive stance being taken by churches in addressing HIV through infusing teachings that tackle key drivers of the pandemic.
Speaking on the side lines of the Norton Goodnews Deliverance Explo 2024 recently, National Aids Council District Aids Coordinator Virginia Tausa lauded the positive stance being taken by churches in complementing Government efforts.
"The church is doing wonders. As NAC we are very grateful to their contribution on addressing HIV and other related issues. HIV and related vices need collaborative efforts. Communities must embrace and live the gospel teachings from their different denominations," said Tausa.
The event attracted a bumper crowd who received onsite health services including counselling services, BP checks, referral and cervical cancer screening.
Evangelist David Mabvuramiti who was one of the facilitators said Norton people have benefited spiritually, physically emotionally and health wise from well packaged teachings.
Focus was on deliverance from darkness to light, laziness to diligence, poverty to prosperity from substance abuse.
On drug and substance abuse the church called for the need to address the root cause especially amongst youth who resort to drugs for different reasons.
The teachings focused on broken families caused by infidelity, gender based violence, negative words and replacement of parental care with money.
Congregants were urged to work hard and better their lives to remove themselves from vulnerability.
The Goodness deliverance Explo was a brain child of late Professor Handinawangu Guti and now being spearheaded by Professor Eunor Guti and being funded by the ZAOGA church.
