Zimbabwean football giants Dynamos are gearing up for a crucial clash against Botswana's Orapa United in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup. The match will be hosted at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown, Botswana, next month.
Dynamos, who secured a hard-fought victory over Zambia's Zesco United in the previous round, will once again be playing away from their home ground due to Zimbabwe's lack of CAF-accredited stadiums. The team's decision to base their operations in Francistown, despite calls for a move to Lusaka, Zambia, highlights the challenges faced by Zimbabwean clubs in continental competitions.
While Lusaka is closer to Harare than Francistown, Dynamos has opted to maintain its base in Botswana. This decision, however, has not been without controversy, with fans expressing their preference for a move to Zambia. The shorter distance between Harare and Lusaka would make it easier for supporters to travel and cheer on their team.
Despite the logistical hurdles, Dynamos remains focused on securing a positive result against Orapa United. The team's preparations for the match are reportedly at an advanced stage, and they will be aiming to make a strong statement on the continental stage
