The Zimbabwean government has pledged to cover the costs of repatriating the bodies of 10 Zimbabwean nationals who tragically lost their lives in a bus accident in Louis Trichardt, Limpopo on Tuesday evening.

Consul-General in South Africa, Eria Phiri, made the announcement during a visit to the accident site alongside Deputy Transport Minister Mkhuleko Hlengwa. The victims, five women and five men, were traveling from Zimbabwe to Gauteng when the accident occurred.

"We are still working to verify the identities of those who perished in the accident," Phiri stated. "Ten people were involved, and seven are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals in Makhado. Thirty-two others were treated and released. We are in close contact with families back home in Zimbabwe to confirm the identities of those in the mortuary."

So far, two victims have been positively identified by their relatives. The Zimbabwean government will initiate the repatriation process, and all associated costs will be borne by the government.
