Three men have been accused of robbing a Chart King shop in Warren Park D, Harare, and have appeared before a magistrate.
Donald Nyahuma, Brighton Nyahuma, and Ronald Zimba were arraigned at the Harare Magistrate's Courts on charges of robbery. They are accused of stealing US$3,525 and till slips from the shop.
According to the prosecution, the trio targeted the shop in the early hours of August 4. They allegedly overpowered the security guard, tied him up, and threatened him with a knife. One of the men then cut the toilet burglar bar and entered the shop.
After a while, the accused emerged from the shop carrying a bag filled with cash and till slips. They fled the scene, leaving the security guard bound.
The security guard managed to free himself and sought help. He reported the robbery to the Warren Park Police station.
Following investigations, detectives arrested the three suspects. While US$3,600 was recovered, authorities are still searching for the remaining US$75.
The accused have been remanded in custody and are expected to appear in court again on September 3 for a bail application.
