Liverpool prodigy Trey Nyoni showcased his exceptional talent as he contributed to England's 2-2 draw against Portugal in the opening match of the Lafarge International tournament.
The 18-year-old midfielder, widely regarded as one of the most promising young players in world football, demonstrated his clinical finishing ability by finding the net past Portuguese goalkeeper Miguel Gouveia in the 51st minute. His goal gave England a comfortable 2-0 lead, but Portugal fought back to salvage a draw.
Nyoni's performance further solidified his reputation as a rising star in English football. Eligible to represent both England and Zimbabwe, his decision on which country to play for at the senior level will be keenly watched by fans of both nations.
Another Zimbabwean-born talent in the England squad was Shumaira Mheuka, a Chelsea starlet with a record-breaking transfer fee. Mheuka, who holds the record for the highest transfer fee for a 14-year-old (£4.25 million), joined Chelsea from Brighton and Hove Albion in 2022.
