China awards seven university scholarships to Zim students

Seven students from Zimbabwe will study in Chinese universities after being granted scholarships by the Government of China.

The seven received their letters on August 30 during an open house event for the education players hosted by Ambassador Zhou Ding and his wife Mme. Lyu Renhong.

Chargé d'Affaires a.i. Mr. Cheng Yan, representing Ambassador Zhou Ding engaged with the guests.

Other guests included individuals from universities, polytechnics, high schools and Ministry of Higher Education.

The toured the Embassy to view traditional Chinese architecture and culture artefacts.

The deputy director of Higher Education Programmes, the co-director of Confucius Institute at University of Zimbabwe, the principal of China-Zimbabwe Friendship High School and representative of the Chinese Government Scholarship recipients shared their memorable experiences in China.

They also spoke on the importance of education and mutual learning for friendship and national development of both countries.

Performances by teachers from CIUZ were the high point of the cross cultural experience.

As it is the tradition of Zimbabweans and Chinese to cement relations over shared meals, hosts and guests enjoyed some delicious offerings.
