Magaya pumps in US$320 000 into women's football league

Prophet Walter Magaya, the president of the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries' sports division, has officially provided football kits to the women’s league clubs.

Magaya has sponsored the women’s football league with a substantial package worth US$320,000. This includes home and away kits as well as training gear for each team. He expressed his hope that more sponsors would join in to help promote and support the growth of women's football.

The women’s league consists of 16 teams, including: Correctional Queens, Black Rhinos Queens, Chapungu Queens, Highlanders Royals, Sheasham Gweru Queens, COSA Guruve Queens, ZRP Harare Queens, Faithdrive Queens, Mutare City Queens, Black Mambas Queens, Hope Academy Queens, Platinum Queens, Herentals Queens, MSU Queens, Harare City Queens and Maningi Academy Queens.

The tournament, featuring these 16 teams, is set to begin on September 18th at Heart Stadium.

"Securing sponsorships like this is a great way to encourage young stars to participate in such programs. Our hope is that this will inspire even more young talent to get involved in sports," said Prophet Magaya.

"For this year, the sponsorship is secured, and we're already planning for next year, with the aim of increasing and expanding the sponsorship to make it even bigger and more impactful. We hope this could even attract international players to compete in Zimbabwe."

Magaya also expressed his desire to build a stadium in Chitungwiza, though he is still awaiting approval from the relevant authorities. "I haven't received a reply yet," he added.

"In 2012, I sponsored more than US$10 million. We can’t limit these acts of giving to what happens every five years with ZIFA presidents. This is something we contribute to annually," Magaya stated.
