The Women’s University in Africa men’s handball team has made a remarkable impression at the FASU Games, held in Lagos, Nigeria. The team has dominated their group, securing a series of impressive victories and advancing to the finals.
The WUA team kicked off their campaign with a strong 32-27 win over the University of Ghana. They followed this up with victories against Kenyatta University (38-39) and Lagos State University (25-29). Their winning streak culminated in a convincing 33-7 victory over Nkumba University in the semifinals.
In an interview with Zim Now, WUA coach Shemaiah Bota expressed his delight at the team’s performance. "I was initially apprehensive due to the 'FASU Games' label, but the team's hard work has paid off," Bota said. "I'm extremely proud and happy with their achievements."
WUA team captain Brian 'Maestro' Naison echoed his coach’s sentiments. "As first-timers at the games, we are all excited and happy to be dominating the tournament," Naison stated. "I truly appreciate the effort my boys are putting in, and we’re more than ready for the finals. We’ll give our best to bring the gold medal back home to Zimbabwe."
